In my opinion, The purpose of life is . . . . . . . . . !

But don't you think that emphasis on procreation could result in suffering of others?
I think suffering is a given in this life, whatever variable you add. Just walking out the door we are likely to cause suffering for some living creature, we don't mean to, but it happens. It is too much to bear so we withdraw, pretending it's not there, but all of creation groans under it. Better to think about goodness and happiness and all the other things that make us feel good about life, like sunsets, warm days, cute puppies, etc.

Can I mention Sir Thomas More's book "Utopia" here, where you can find a wealth of ideas and perspectives on life I'd say, from someone with a very fertile imagination, (a landlord of a bar in Belgium is said to have memorised the whole book, so impressed was he by its contents! :) ).

This sums it up for me.....

“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.”
~ Bessie Anderson Stanley

We don't have to accomplish all of these, but just one would make the world a better place.

I was thumbing thru some old posters I've made for some old site friends
