in reference to Christianity, Faith and godly promises.

Perhaps for me faith and belief are the reasons for my disbelief in Christianty. It is hard for me to believe based on the faith described by Christinaity that in prior one must have faith in order to be a Christian, by which faith is required.

Many years searching for faith for membership into the prestigious club of white saints but not once were my efforts satisfied. To this conclusion, Christianity cannot exist without faith, but faith is flawed by lack of evidence. the Bible supports faith as a substitute for the truth that nonetheless remain unproven.

Either god does not want me or my imagination is less gullible than the many who claim to claim to be Christian who by faith accepted Jesus as lord and savior, who rose from the grave and grants salvation to all who believe in him. Can any of these promises be proven in real time? No, so it is faith, no proof of existence outside your brain.

Faith is a mysterious thing indeed, but take it from this former atheist, it is something that sustains the spirit during the darkest times. Faith looks to the light that is not yet evident. Paradoxically, to experience faith requires a leap of faith.

I was a devout believer for a number of years. I was raised a Calvinist and took the study of theology very seriously and almost went to seminary. Instead I went to college and pursued philosophy. It didn't take long until I came to realize that I could not reconcile theology with reason. For me, that was the end of religion.

My view is that any belief which is held to be true, and not just an opinion or a matter of taste, should be able to be rigorously defended by reasoned argument and evidence. If I am confronted by such an argument about one of my beliefs, and I am shown to be wrong, I take it as a moral principle that I should either change my belief, or change it to a mere opinion with no truth value.
