Incredibly Stupid TV Reporting On Hurricanes Again

I have the Weather Channel on and reporters are outside reporting on the storm. How F-N stupid it is to watch reporters struggle to stay on the feet as the storm winds rip around them. I guess we would not know there is a hurricane if they were safe indoors. I hate this crap as it happens with every storm.

They probably have a rescue squad sitting in their vehicles just in case....and we're all thinking the same as you @fmdog44....
makes for better media hype....or maybe they're secured to the ground with a rope attached to their britches behind them so they don't fly away, lol....
wasn't there one reporter who died doing this?

I remember after Katrina, each hurricane after was supposed to be the next "big" one. I swear that when we do have a storm move in during the summer the news stations sends out reporters to cover the rain which is usually just a few drops in random areas across the valley.

The "news" is Always geared towards Sensationalism....be it a severe storm, or civil unrest, or virtually Any subject one can think of. After all, these news shows generate huge amounts of Profit for the networks and TV stations....so the more they can "magnify" a given event, the more viewers they can amass, and the more money they can make from the commercials.

A couple of winters ago, while stuck in the house, I tracked the news shows and networks for several days. I found that the average 30 minute news show consisted of at least 13 minutes of commercials...and that number has probably gone up since.

Watching KPRC in to the night last night I saw a reporter and his cameraman go down to the ground losing contact. Equally absurd is they have to wear KPRC baseball style hats while they stand in hurricane force winds. Just the type of stupidity I was talking about. Ratings, ratings, ratings.

I've noticed this for years: The local forecasters always go to the extreme with their predictions. In the summer they always overshoot an expected high temperature, and overshoot to the low side in the winter. It rarely comes out as extreme as they predict.

Have you ever noticed their forecast changes when the sun comes out? Its because they look out the window!!
