I used to read a lot of those. The authors that really helped were Dale Carnegie's 'How to make friends and influence people' and Susan Jeffers 'Feel the fear and do it anyway'. I would say they impacted my mentality permanently for the good.

Another author was Dr Bernstein with his 'Diabetes Solution' which helped me control my type 2, so well that I've never deteriorated and just control through diet.

Have you got favourite self help books that have made a real difference to your life?

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.
I think I need to read them again. And again.

"The book is broken up into an exploration of the four agreements: "Be impeccable with your word", "Do not take anything personally", "Do not make assumptions", and "Always do your best". Chapters include the relevant linguistic and historical context for each. Ruiz says that by making a pact with the agreements described in the book, the individual is able to create a happier and more successful life"
