Insurance Company Greed

I had car insurance with "21st Century" (Farmer's bought them) for 53 years. In all that time, I only had 3 claims - two relatively minor accidents when drunk drivers hit me.
In December last year, a car in front of me pulled over to the right & stopped. It looked like he was making a phone call, but I didn't want to pass him until I was sure he wasn't trying to make a U-Turn or Left turn. After I waited about 8 seconds, I started to pass him & that's when he whipped around to make an illegal left turn into a driveway (in front of a "No Left Turn Sign.") & hit me. We exchanged information. I reported the accident to my insurance company. My insurance company paid $1,800.00 for the repair & I paid the $1,000.00 deductible and $275.00 for a rental car for 6 days.

A few days later, a representative from 21st Century calls me & says I was at fault for the accident because I shouldn't have passed the other driver. After a bit of arguing, I asked how much my premium would go up. She said, "Substantially, since you are losing your Good Driver Discount." I said, "That's fine, but your greed will cost you a long-term customer. She said "We don't want to lose you." I said, "Then don't try to rip me off by calling the accident my fault so you can raise my premium."

Well, yesterday, I got my billing statement from 21st Century for the next 6 months & I've been laughing ever since. Before the accident, I was paying $1,080/year. Now they want $3,000.00/year. I found another insurance co. in 5 minutes - $1,280.00/year. Same exact coverage.
"When you mess with the best, you pay like the rest." 😁
