Interactive toys for cats

I have now bought over this past year 4 interactive toys for my cat. I am very disappointed with these products, they work well for a couple of weeks then don't. I think that the problem is the connection inside the toy becomes loose and then it does not hold a charge. I have high hopes for her latest toy, she loves it and has used it for about 3 weeks now. If it does not last then it will be the last one that I buy. Does anyone else buy these toys for their cats?

I remember when a dog was an interactive toy for a cat. 😉🤭😂

Cats are a lot like kids, they can be happy with a paper bag or a string hanging from the back of a door.

IMO what they really need is a bit of time with their person.

My last cat is gone but I have a feral and her two offspring that I feed daily and have been since the kittens were born. They have been spayed and neutered. I am trying to lure them inside before the frigid temperatures arrive in a few days.
I had saved toys from previous cats in a nook in the living room. The kittens learned how to come inside through a screen door and select their own toys. They may be feral but they enjoy toys even though there are no batteries. Sorry to have strayed off topic. I just like talking about the little rascals.

I’ve bought three. They were fascinated for a few months, but won’t even look at them now. They like the feathers on a stick, but even that they’ll only play a few minutes. I tried a toy that shoots out plastic rings that spin and fly. They chased them the first day, now they just watch.

Older cats just aren’t that interested.

My cat of 18 years chose those little balls made of tinsel but we had to interact with her.
She'd sit waiting for it to be thrown, chase it and bring it back. We could motion for her to retreat and
wait a bit and she'd back up further, then sit waiting for the launch.

One ricocheted off the wall once and landed in the ceiling light cover and she about tore up the room
trying to figure out how to jump to it.

When I would clean under my stove and fridge, there were always 15-25 of those balls under them.
Her interactive favorite toy was Human visitors; the game was "How soon can I get them to leave"
