I'm always interested in an article like this, especially because Alzheimer's touches so many lives. My late father-in-law had it and we suspect my mother-in-law may be suffering with it as well.

A snip from the article. The link is above.

[h=1]Could Alzheimer’s Stem From Infections? It Makes Sense, Experts Say[/h]
Could it be that Alzheimer’s disease stems from the toxic remnants of the brain’s attempt to fight off infection?
Provocative new research by a team of investigators at Harvard leads to this startling hypothesis, which could explain the origins of plaque, the mysterious hard little balls that pockmark the brains of people with Alzheimer’s.

That's a good article Bob.

Anything that shows potential progress in understanding this disease is important news for us all. My wife is terrified of getting Alzheimer's, given that her father had it and her mom probably does.

I appreciate the information too. Thanks, Bobw, for posting.

My mom had Dementia and my dad had Alzheimer's. In their cases, similar syptoms, yet not. The biggest difference was that my mom was regularly confused, very suspicious of strangers and fearful of water, but didn't seem to realize she had changed. My dad was aware his condition in that he would comment often on being more forgetful, telling me one day that he thought it was strange that he couldn't remember any of us as kids.
