Interesting channels I am finding on my TV.

Since I still have to stay close to home for a bit, I have been finding things to do at home. On my TV, I do not have cable or satellite, I go only with antenna. Also, as my TV is Smart, all my streaming channels. I get my services through Spectrum. In looking around the apps, I found SpectrumTV. MANY apps there. Some channels are specific to certain shows. Bar Rescue is a favorite. And many others.
Also channels related to True Crime (@Murrmurr), Hallmark, AMC, game shows (not an interest for me) and lots of things. I was in heaven picking channels to add to my favorites list.

I found a lot of interesting stuff on TV when I quit cable and switched to antenna and streaming service. I only have Prime and Netflix but I see I can also get a lot more channels through the Fire TV apps. Going to check those out. Thanks for the idea 😌🌈🥀

Here we’ve got Comcast/Xfinity. The channels are for all practical purposes endless, as are the re-runs. And then, for the Amazon crowd there is Prime TV and movies— seemingly just about every movie ever made, although most are not free. The Comcast remote has a nice feature that comes in handy when watching recordings with commercials — two buttons, one that skips forward and one back. What doesn‘t get mentioned is that the length of each skip is easily programmable. (-8

I love my Roku TV. It's pretty smart as well. My fingers are crossed that the free channels stay free. As it is now, there are plenty of free ones and I check for new free ones every couple months.

Between Roku and YouTube, the entertainment and learning opportunities seem endless.
I didn't have a working TV for almost a decade - I'm in the 'dead zone.' I did get WIFI internet, which helped. Then, my neighbors explained their ROKU tv to me and WOW! Perfect reception, lots of choices, and for a one-time payment of $150 bucks, I can lay in bed with my dog and run the tube all night. I haven't paid for any of the many offerings, nor do I sign up for free trials. I'd forget to cancel them, I'm sure. But, for me, ROKU rocks!

On my 10" tablet..Pluto TV is free..with lots of different categories.
Pluto is often my free go to App when I want to have something on in the background but not paying attention much to the show. I often have it on the Star Trek channel since I do know those episodes by heart. Kind of comfort food for me. I also like Tubi for the same reason. I have started watching Freevee lately. It is a free Amazon app that does have commercials and some of the shows are pretty good. I think they are going to start showing some of the older Amazon Prime originals on that channel sometime soon. Worth checking out. As far as paid services, I rotate between Netflix, Hulu, and HBOMax.

It's my therapy, to keep nightmares away. As weird as it seems, it works - even binge-watching Stargate SG-1! Since I know all the episodes, I can drift in and out of sleep and still keep up with the plot. If I awaken, I just focus on the next scene for a moment, and it is enough to keep my mind from clicking into high gear.

Is Pluto on a phone, a computer, or a smart TV? When people say "App," I'm always confused.

I cancelled Xfinity cable TV when my monthly bill went up to $200. Now I only get internet from them at $50/mo. That price could go up, too, at some point, but I'll bet Comcast has been losing profits on a massive scale over the past decade, and won't be surprised if they either innovate, like maybe get into AI or Meta or something, or go out of business.

It always cracks me up that Comcast advertises itself as cutting-edge but their customer service bot, hold music, and menu is the crappiest on the planet.

Pluto is an app available on most any platform...phone, Roku, Firestick etc. You can also go to Pluto.tv and watch it on your PC.

The apps I have come with Amazon Fire stick. After you plug it into your TV you get lots of streaming apps or different TV companies in other words.

The companies have a platform with lots of channels or some have movies and TV shows, too. You just use the fire stick and press a button to get into the different companies or applications. I hope I make some sense.

I found all these out by getting Amazon Fire Stick. There are apps that are free and those you pay for. I pay for Prime and Netflix apps or companies.

I'm over 200 dollars with cable, internet and phone land line. "Bundle." I don't know how all this alternate TV works. My TV is about 13 + years old. I'm surprised it's lasted this long. I'm assuming it's not a smart TV.

Bot and menu are the recordings you hear when u call customer service and then there's the music that's played while you're on hold. Listening to Christmas music during Easter week is very cutting-edge Comcast.
Hmmm. You are upset about their choice of music while you are on hold? I seldom have any reason to call customer service, so that explains my uh, ignorance.

I'm sure you're right.

My Roku TV cost around $170 and the antennae cost $35.

Then there are streaming devices you connect to your TV, and they cost around $40.

Comcast is now offering a streaming device they call Xfinity Flex, and it might still be free if you have Comcast, but if you ask them about it, ask if it'll work with your TV.

Thanks for your reply. I've looked at a number of threads about dumping cable including on Reddit. They actually have a sub about it there. I could call and they will usually give you a reduction. But you have to stay for a year. If I ever move, I'd have to continue the service. I've thought if I ever do move, just dumping it and then you can start as a brand new customer in six months I believe.
