I would think..you have to give yourself a little push.

It sounds dated to me. When did she say this? Was it a couple of generations ago? Did she inherit the money to build her cosmetics empire? Did she receive a lot of outside help along the way? :unsure:

Sounds like nonsense to me.

Success is made, not fallen into.

It usually involves work, not giving up, and a bit of luck. And perhaps getting up after falling...

I think it could possibly happen to someone, sometime. (falling forward into success)

But mostly I agree with the others here, that it's rarely that way, and much more usual, is that one needs to put effort and work into succeeding, and that yes, a little self-push, or more likely even a big one, is usually required!
 
This person claims to have invented "falling forward".

"I don't like the word "failure" because of its negative connotation. I'm choosing to use the words "falling forward" instead.

Sounds like gibberish to me. Basically, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. But with a lot of wordiness.

I think positive thinking has great power. I don't know that it is the be all and end all of everything.

It is important to have financial security. It allows peace of mind.

There has to be some balance. Endless pursuit of money is a superficial trip to nowhere.

And living in poverty can cause endless suffering.


So many people who are considered successful, did, in fact, have enormous support from others. And so many who have failed to have financial success were people left alone, with next to no resources, to make things work.
 
I can't really object to the OP statement, true or not, if it makes people think maybe, its doing some good in that alone.

Gary O, (my forum hero of course), has come up with more sayings by the lady in questions, ones we'd all probably agree with and even admire!

When you hear sayings like "Cometh the hour, cometh the man", that suggests an element of chance in whoever gets brought to the top in whatever field of human enterprise, or leadership roles, so I guess there maybe isn't a formula for success all can follow.

My old boss became very successful, yes by hard work, yes by real brains or intellect, yes by being business savvy, but when asked to give lectures on what made for good man management, or what was the secret, he said, "There is no secret",(that must have grabbed the attention of those listening expecting to hear some formula for success!).

However, he did say of himself too, that he felt his job entailed, " Rubbing dull pennies", as in making dullards like myself shine a little brighter, and in this way he helped bring the best out of us, (.., echoes of Mary Kay Ash's statements I think in his words too).

Blah it's just another way of saying: Instead of standing back playing it safe be willing to take a risk. They fail to acknowledge the many people who just fall on their face, but hey, "success" is worth it.

I don't know what she meant unless, maybe, she wasn't expecting what happened. Did she say anything else to explain?
