I think it's part of the psychology of selling. They have people that spend their days analyzing our buying behaviors and making equations for successful sales. Just like the $0.99 at the end of a price - it makes you think that the gadget isn't really $30 - it's $29.99! Your rational mind would revolt at this but your unconscious mind is often far more powerful and will push you toward a rationalization of purchasing that item because "it isn't $30.00". Sounds crazy but it's true.

I never noticed the number 7 thing before but I would assume it's the result of some new study of 'Net buyers. Strange that I just picked that number out of thin air, huh? :cool:
