I just came across this in my saved stuff. It’s supposed to gauge your intelligence or rational/analytical thougth or something. I can no longer remember but going to research and see if I can find the actual reference.

Meanwhile I thought to would find it interesting to see if you can figure them out even if you don’t know what you’re being tested on. 😉

I’ll start it out so you get the idea. (Just FYI there are still a couple I haven’t figured out)

#15. Touchdown.

How do you get 6 feet underground, when there's only 5 feet under?

You have a good knack for this! :)
Thank you. I take after my mom. She had great comprehensive skills. She got The NY Times delivered daily just to do the crossword puzzle and then she would throw the rest of the paper in the burn barrel. It used to drive my dad nuts when she did that. He would tell her, “You could at least read the funnies.” Or, “You’re trying to turn me into a Yankees fan, aren’t you?” My mom liked the Yankees and dad was an Orioles fan. She knew a few of them personally from her brother being in the Yankee organization. But, that’s another story.

Your mom and my mom sound so alike! My mom could do crossword puzzles like no other, she had such a mind for it.

My mom would sometimes use those big words when speaking to me and I would have to tell her to now tell me that again in plain English. And, I never liked playing Scrabble with her. God, how I miss her and her wisdom. My dad was the smarter person, but you would have never known it. It isn’t always about brains. It’s usually about common sense and wisdom.

As corny as this is about to sound, your mom and dad were my mom and dad. :)

By the time I saw this thread, everybody else had already come up with the answers.
It was a popular feature in one of those magazines I read when I was a kid.
Did you ever see the puzzles with weird shaped boxes or lines and then you had to choose from three examples how it would look if it were assembled?

Mine was the opposite. Whenever I'd use a word or term she didn't understand or wasn't familiar with, she'd insist I was making it up!

17. Mind over matter
7. Down town
15. Touch down
19. Glance backwards
11. Neon lights
16. Five feet under ground

Will stop now and let others have a go. Sorry they're not in the right order. Don't know whether any are right  I used to watch a prog. in my younger years called 'catchphrase'- think that might of helped, if of course they are right . Good fun.☺

Well, my dad would study it and study it some more. My mom would look at it for maybe 30-40 seconds and say, “It’s number 2.”
No, I don't recall anything like that.
I’ll bet you did. I’m just not explaining it right. I’ll check online and see if ai can find one.

Check this out. It’s similar, but not exactly what I was referring to.
