The BBC sex pictures scandal took a dramatic twist tonight as the young person at the heart of the row and their parents disputed each other's accounts.

The row, which blew up last week after a top BBC star was accused of paying a teenager £35,000 for sexually explicit photographs, has showcased the cracks within the family in public.

After days of silence the teenager themselves came out tonight to refute the accusations, insisting through their lawyer that nothing inappropriate or unlawful had taken place, calling them 'rubbish'.

The waters were muddied further when their parents spoke out only hours later to confirm they stood by their claims, adding they felt the presenter involved had 'got into their [child's] head'.

The presenter in question has not been named by the corporation, although they have been suspended and taken off air while it investigates. Earlier today police insisted are not yet probing the claims.
but only hours later their mother and step-father - who claim the teen used the money gained from the photos to fund a crack cocaine addiction - hit back.

Speaking to The Sun, the mother said: 'It is sad but we stand by our account and we hope they get the help they need.

'We did this to help - and the presenter has got into their head. How did they afford a lawyer?

'We are so sad.'

The step-father added: 'We are disappointed they made a statement. It’s not true.'

The corporation earlier said it had been investigating a complaint since May, and that new claims of a 'different nature' were brought to it on Thursday.

As well as being in touch with the police, the BBC is carrying out its own inquiries and talking to the young person's family.
A spokesperson for the Sun said: 'We have reported a story about two very concerned parents who made a complaint to the BBC about the behaviour of a presenter and the welfare of their child.

'Their complaint was not acted upon by the BBC.

'We have seen evidence that supports their concerns. It's now for the BBC to properly investigate.'
 

Looks like a mother has stumbled upon her son or daughter running an Only Fans thing, jumped to conclusions.
The rest of us have had our time wasted big time.
It's a load of rubbish.
 
That's it. Police conclude no crime committed.
Therefore whoever he is, he cannot be fired nor can his name be defamed.
So nobody can announce his identity or they will be open to legal action.

Oh my god. The poor man is now in hospital and no wonder. It has been disgraceful how people have ruthlessly attacked him all over the internet. It is so tragic, he has a family. He won't survive this, who could? Dreadful.

yep that's the name that's been mentioned in twitter the last few days...I'm not surprised, better say nothing more than that... but those who are feeling sorry for him, are wrong. This man has had a breakdown..apparently.. why ?.. not because he had caused a 17 year old to become a Crack addict, spending £35 k on asking for sexual poses from them and affecting THEIR mental heath and the horror of their parents ... and also 3 others... but that he's been discovered.. that he's been outted, and that his marriage and job are now at risk. he's also like all of these selfish individuals put his wife in a horrific position. One she didn't deserve... . What a pit of a Man...

what ?.. won't survive this ?.. he didn't think that the youngster wouldn't survive his paedo tendencies... didn't care.. didn't care what he did to the mental health of another 3 youngsters.. he didn't care what he did to his wife and family.... he brought this all on himself.. and caused untold horror and upset to many people because of his own selfish wants...

Interesting, that would not be the case here. Nothing illegal about telling the truth.

Even if what he did was not illegal it was disgusting.
 
As I understand it, the police have said no offence committed based on the complaints presented to them so far. The police are aware of other allegation, in the media. I can only conclude more investigation may take place later?

"Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command have now concluded their assessment and have determined there is no information to indicate that a criminal offence has been committed."

Detectives said they are "aware of media reporting of further allegations against the same individual" but has received "no specific details or information about these allegations... and therefore there is no police action at this time".
 
Whether the kid is a cocaine addict is irrelevant as to Edwards alleged criminal activity. What the kid spent money on was the kid's own doing. Edwards does have a problem explaining why he paid a 17 year old kid $35,000. Plus, the kid/his mom may also be guilty of extortion. One party is in a psych hospital, and the other is denying anything happened.. It sounds like both of them got lawyered up.

well the kids' parents have proof of what happened..so the denial.. obviously he's denying because he can see his drug money disappearing fast...the 3 others are not denying he made advances to them.. and now 3 people who worked with him at the studios have reported inappropriate advances by him..

Edwards has conveniently become mentally ill in the last day.. and even worse he's put his poor wife in the position of having to name him.. so everyone will immediately have sympathy for the wife, and the 5 kids.. thinking Edwards had a breakdown and that is why he was texting and asking for pictures of a teen for the last 3 years.. when in fact his convenient breakdown didn't happen until this week...

He wasn't suffering a breakdown last week when on TV reading the news...
 
I just dread in case he takes his own life, as he has had bad depression for a long time and now his life is ruined. His wife and children must be in such a state.
It is a tragic situation for all concerned.

...depression is suffered by millions of people in the world, they don't use it as an excuse to pay teenagers mega bucks for sexual content
 
You have to wonder about his wife. 35,000 Pounds to a 17 year old. And she doesn't notice it's gone??? It's not like that was his lunch money he was squirreling away. Nobody is looking too good in this......

Huw Is one of the highest paid presenters on TV....his wife also is a Producer and Editor.of political shows.. why would she have notcied £35, 000 gone from her husbands' account..especially as it was spent over 3 years..?

The kid was no Blackmailer.. he was paid vy Edawrads to get into Sexual poses... there are 3 other people saying Edwards approached them also... and now at the studios where he worked, this morning.. he's been accused by colleagues of inappropriate behaviour toward them...
