Invited to a Celebration of Life event this Saturday

I can attest to that being the case sometimes: the last family funeral/memorial service I was in charge of (my biol. dad's), hardly anyone showed up. I remember feeling hurt that even though they may not have known or liked my dad that well (and if they knew him well, they probably wouldn't have liked him for sure), didn't they want to support my brother and me?

Then again, this being just a casual acquaintance, I can understand how you feel, Deb; do what you're comfortable

We all feel different about a loved one passing away for sure. I could not care less who was there at my dad's funeral, I just missed him period. For sure, having my mom, brothers and hubby to support me, very important but friends or acquaintances, nope.

Seriously though, I agree with the other comments. If you didn’t know the deceased and will feel uncomfortable, I would not attend.

Some of us can’t rely on family, so friends and acquaintances are important to us.
