Is anyone else raising their grandchildren?

My 13 year old granddaughter lives with me, because her parents work and live abroad

Not raising grandkids but I have been doing foster care for 5 years-teens only. Except for my last girl. She was 17 and had a one year old so I had the baby too. But after the wildfires we had a few months ago,we could not bring the children back into the house until the smoke damage was taken care of. That just got finished this week. So since the 17 year old was turning 18 and going into her own apartment, and the other girl was going to eventually be going back to her prior foster mom,we decided to take a break. It will probably be a permanent break.

I would love it. For me it would be loads of fun.

It's like starting a brand new ball game with fresh rules.

I would concentrate on reading every day. That's how you learn.

I raised two of my granddaughters for a while.

I've mentioned here before that one of my boys (their father) is an addict. He is almost 4 years sober just for today, the first time in 15 years. My daughter in law was also an addict, and overdosed just last year. :( Her husband after my son, and the girls' step-father, committed suicide two and a half years ago. Those poor girls have had a rough go of it.

At this time they live with their other grandmother, because my son is still getting his life in order and currently is able to support no one but himself. Their other grandmother and I are best friends, have been for years. We are very much in accord on the grandkids' well being and work hard to ensure that they are well taken care of and living as normal a life as humanly possible, given their tragic history.
