Is "Black Friday" still a 'thing'?

Black Friday is not something that we are familiar with on this side of the pond. Thanksgiving is also a vague concept. But it was worth looking up and this what I found:

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season. Many stores offer highly promoted sales at discounted prices and often open early, sometimes as early as midnight or even on Thanksgiving.

So, tell me, what do you call the day after Black Friday?

Broke Saturday!

With the advent of online shopping, Black Friday seems to be to be continually diminishing. Back in the 1980s and 1990s it seemed to be a bigger deal. And now a lot of retailers do their "Black Friday" sales on Thanksgiving itself.

I hate crowds, so I've never participated in Black Friday. However, I am a big Cyber Monday shopper.

it shows you're not a shopper.:D..we are very familiar with Black friday here. The trouble now with Black Friday is that it has become like any other sale.. and they advertise the goods days ahead, and really they've just inflated the prices a couple of weeks before to reduce back to their normal price... it's just all a con... not like those original sales of years ago as mentioned in the OP

I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as it once was. Most Americans, including their children and grandchildren have most everything they want or need. I find it harder each year to buy gifts, so my wife and I pretty much have gone to giving money or gift cards. More money than anything.

There are still plenty of families that are in need in the low income areas. Our church takes up special collections during November and donate to the churches in those areas, however, we can’t cover them all.
