Read your own words. You have had all these tragedies in your life and your just fine now. Not how it works for everyone.

No offense but I don't believe he ever said that's how it works for everyone. And nobody here has ridiculed anyone. It's just a discussion.

Yes, clinical anxiety is not one of those things where you just need to get a grip and stop worrying about it.

As you’ve blocked me you won’t see this, nevertheless, you interpret it however you wish and I shall do the same. Please don’t tell me how to think and certainly don’t tell me how to act. Hyperbole is not helpful either, just saying.

This is obviously something I’m very passionate about. If that bothers you, then I’m glad you’ve blocked me. My guess is you’ve spent your life hiding from things that upset you! PFFT!

That (i.e., coming without warning or reason) sounds like a panic attack, a particularly horrible form of anxiety. I had a horrific one back in July 1992 that sticks with me to this day.

No, we have this sub forum where we can discuss our concerns in a judgement free setting.

Anyways, with the days being shorter, the weather being colder, and the Holidays looming, it’s funk time. I need to break out my SAD light. What coping mechanisms help you?

I love the Fall, but there's always been a melancholy feel to it, for me. Tomorrow is my deceased daughter's birthday, which affects my mood as well.
I really don't have any overt coping mechanisms, I allow the feelings to flow through my being. At some point the sadness subsides, and the day's events take the forefront of my consciousness.

I'm sure you're right. 'Panic attack' sounds more like what I remember. Her medical doctor advised her to keep a paper bag with her to breathe into.

I have been following this thread and am confused. Probably me not reading everything, but could someone tell me what has been said in this thread that ridicules people who have depression?

No one except @feywon wrote anything negative so, much less ridicule. And she is both someone who has written about depression many times herein as someone suffering from such and is a career person in psychology fields. Instead, as I earlier wrote predictably as a warning to the OP, given this is an open public board where in the past new members found they could not stop others from making general comments on subjects:

If i stopped reading a comment at the first sentence i would not make pronouncements about what the person does or doesn't 'get' about the topic.
