Is Ed Sullivan on tonight?

Ed Sullivan reminded me of Senor Wences with the guy in the box and the girl he made out of his hand. He really wasn't a very good ventriloquist but I loved to watch him anyway.

I miss ole Ed and his variety show. What have we have now that equals it........nothing.....

I agree. I miss all those wonderful Christmas shows also. Andy Williams,Dean Martin,Perry Como. They use to rerun them for awhile but not anymore. I suppose the younger generation wouldn't even know who they are. Their loss. lol

I really miss the shows that were soo good like Ed Sullivan. I scroll through the TV guide every night trying to find a good show, but sadly I never find one. I spend a lot of time on youtube watching shows like the Dean Martin roasts etc.

A bear trainer, from Russia, was attacked, and killed, on the show, by his bicycle riding bear. The screen went black, and then went to commercial. I was one freaked out little kid. The next day, there was one paragraph about the death, on the back page of our newspaper. Apparently, Ed could buy media silence. Even today, you can't find any mention of this incident, online. Also, on What's My Line, this very drunk guy came stumbling onto the stage and tried to proposition the celebrity contestant. Again, the screen went black, momentarily, and the guy was quickly hustled off the stage, which was shown. Ah, the wonders of live TV.

It is on antenna TV channels but the lineup varies from area to area. Take a look at old weather reports using tape and crayons to forecast the weather (which were never very accurate).

My wife didn't know that Topo Gigo was an Italian mouse and that Speedy Gonzales was Mexican mouse. Not the same mouse.
Good that we got that sorted out.;)

Funny, I found that the old weather guys were far more accurate than today's high teach forecasters.

My uncle used to say that Loretta Young was his girlfriend and his wife countered that Perry Como was her boyfriend. I used to watch both.
