We used to dance ( ballroom ) to quite a few tunes that had the words happy and gay in the lyrics ( mostly CD music now days )
most tunes mentioning those words have been deleted now days, as most use computers so it’s quick and easy to delete and music
During our recent 7 weeks stay in Queensland I was sitting next to a well known musician and I asked if if it’s acceptable to play such tunes now days and ……he said NO ..… and asked me why ? I simply said oh the man running the dance we were at just played a happy and gay tune ….so the musician went up to the man playing the music for the dance ( CD’s)
and made him aware of the words in the last tune he'd Played .
I only asked the musician out of curiosity, as usually they were what we called happy and gay tunes and not offensive to my ears.
