Is life more complicated, or are you getting more outdated?

I bought a new battery grass trimmer. My old cord one had an on//off switch. This things got switches, light indicators, and shuts itself off, if things don't go well. Normally, I can fudge it, and not read the manual to put it together. NO way with this thing.
I began to wonder is life getting way more complicated, or is it me getting more outdated?

My cordless/battery operated leaf blower is my most used yard tool but (thankfully) doesn’t have the bells & whistles of your grass trimmer.

Uncomplicated life here fuzzy - I'm just an old fashioned gal - no grass trimmers/leaf blowers or hedge trimmers pour moi. Electric lawn mower is all I have, plus a brushes, shovel, shears - gives me a good work out. 🄵

(But I do appreciate how folk need to use those gizmos if they are incapacitated in some way).

The way things work are configured overseas under a culture different from those of us raised in the US.

And then, the guides they send with the product are sketchy at best because the more you rely on a picture to tell the story, the less translating needs to be done. It's the Tower of Babel all over again.

The only positive to this is that maybe nuclear weapons can't be understood anymore and when they finally decide to launch them, it's unclear how exactly they work

Well, there was a time when the only things that took batteries were flashlights and transistor radios
Wonder what my great granddad would have said about transistor radios? ... something that talks in the hand !!!

Not complicated at all. Went from 5 bedroom bi-level home with 8 acres of property to maintain to 3 bedroom rancher with a small grass covered yard. I covered the grass with non porous black plastic sheeting & covered that with Arizona river stone. No weeds, no grass, no work. It's all in planning for a stress free less work retirement.

Life is more complicated because various items I buy now are more complicated. Have to figure out hoe to set them up. Recently I purchased a queen size bed online and had to figure out how to get it into my son's apartment. It was delivered in long heavy box. Then had to figure out how to put it together. Same with a new computer and printer. I had to learn how to set it up on my own with no help because nobody I know uses the same operating system as I do. But it can be a good thing.........had to use my brain! Then do them. So maybe it keeps me from being outdated as I learn new things.

Life is not comlicated, we did not change and that is the problem. When we were younger, we were eager to learn and take chances in life. Nowadays, life has passed us by because our knowledge and coping skills are outdated. So naturally, with lack of use and ongoing stimulation we are destined to fall behind, to give future generations the opportunities we had during our prime.
