Is male chauvinism alive and thriving in Australia

Would you consider Australia a male orientated (chauvinistic) country?
The entire media seems to be controlled by the boys: Day and night on TV and radio we are currently bombarded by sports--the cricket, tennis, football, and more.
And then the chat/discussion programs about the very same sports--male participants only, of course!
Wonder how men would react if all day and night programs were filled with: Programs about EMBROIDERY, CROCHETING, KNITTING, RECIPES AND COOKING SHOWS. women's health and other issues concerning women, extensive chat shows by ladies about all of them?
Would men react angrily and storm the stations with BRICKS AND BATS?
Why do most Australian ladies never speak up (even with an IQ between 120-160?)

I shop around. The ABC has some good offerings at the moment.
I don't bother with the BOYZOWN zone.

And to answer your question. Yes, OZ is and always has been a male chauvinistic society.
It still is, even though women are no longer outnumbered as we were in the past.

Here in the U.S., sports is big business, so we do have a lot of sports shows on TV. (And I do mean a lot.) However, there are also many female sports reporters, even though I am sure that men out number the ladies. Each time I go to a sporting event, I notice thousands of women are also are in attendance. This isn't only because their husbands or boyfriends drag them to the events, but because many of the ladies in this country enjoy male dominated sports such as; football, baseball, basketball, NASCAR and ice hockey. We also have female professional basketball and for awhile, we also had female football and to this day, we still have female professional basketball. Additionally, we also have females entering the officiating career such as the NFL, although there is only one at this time.

But, you are right. If I had to watch only the choices that you have mentioned, our TV's probably wouldn't be on as much as they are now, which is very limited. My wife and I really are not TV people.
