Is the earth round or flat?

Absent angular momentum from rotation, absent tidal forces from nearby heavenly bodies, the laws of Newtonian physics require that all heavenly bodies be spherical! Suppose the earth was made entirely of diamond, the strongest, hardest material known. Now suppose the diamond Earth were formed in the shape of a simple cube. Due to the immense gravitational forces caused by simply supporting the weight of the pyramidal corners of the cube, the whole structure would simply collapse! If a cubical Earth planet is unstable then a flat Earth planet would be even less so.

You put that very well @sch404 , And generally only above a spacific mass -- earth being above that mass. The larger the mass of a rocky heavenly body, the less likely any mountains will remain of any significant size. As they too will colapse due to immense gravity.

I wonder, should flat earthers now be called "Potato Heads"? It was just a thought:

Is it fair to say that these types of conferences bring in a significant amount of revenue? :unsure: For someone.

Maybe their physics classes at school, all those years ago, have failed them. Or is it that even the most basic concepts have gone over their heads. Potato or otherwise:

There really are people, who believe the earth is flat. They aren't falling for the hoax the earth is round. You think how could anyone believe that?
Well, years ago, when I was in the Navy, a buddy came over and complained that this guy would always follow him into the head. (bathroom). My buddy said " watch". He got up and the guy did too, and followed him into the head. We surrounded the guy and asked him why he was following my buddy. The guy said, "he's Jewish". We said yeah, so? The guy said, "I wanted to see his tail".
If you believe Jews have tails, a flat earth isn't that far from the target.
 
It's sounds kind of kooky, but I don't think the Flat Earthers have taken it far enough. Actually, the Earth is 2 Dimensional.

Yes, above a certain mass they must be spherical. My bad.
