Before we moved to Edison, California we lived in Eureka. Gas was almost $7 a gallon. I could barely afford to drive to the grocery store that was 4 blocks from my house. Here in Edison, and all of the Bakersfield metro area, gas is an average of $3 to $3.50. It's $4.50 in Eureka now. Which is good because Bakersfield is massive, and almost everything we need to do is on the west side of the city, and Edison is outside the city limits on the east side. Five miles each way to get to our Doctor's office, 14 miles to Costco and back, 17 if we also go to Winco, etc. We have to drive almost five miles just to get a decent cuppa Joe. I hate big cities. And I sorely miss Eureka...I think the question was more along the line of coming down for consumers.
