Is There Something You Simply Cannot Do?

You could always just learn the melody which is usually the right hand and later learn just chords to add with the left hand. It makes it a lot easier. Just a suggestion.
Oh, I did. I can still play several melodies one-handed (on piano). But I gave up trying to actually play. No patience and not enough time (back then). I gave my piano to one of my granddaughters years ago. She plays pretty well.

That was a very nice thing to do. It’s nice to have an instrument to play as a child. Good stuff. She must have been thrilled.

There's things I'm not good at but something I always wanted to be good at but still suck at is dancing. I can't follow the rhythm in the music, many times I can't even detect a rhythm to follow. Makes me sad.
I am a natural dancer... it never fails to make me wonder why some people can't dance . is it because you have no rhythm.. can you play a musical instrument ?

I tried learning to play piano and guitar but seems I can't think separately for each hand. Not where instruments are concerned.
Roller/ice skate. When I was young I tried..I really did. But never had good enough balance for it
I can ice skate but avoid roller skating because I do fall from it on hard surfaces and could get badly injured and I know this is just an old person's excuse but it IS a valid one. I've reached the age where I want to avoid unnecessary injuries. o_O ;)

I completely understand this... because I wasn't a very good ice skater ..but I was a really good roller skater in the rollerina and roller Disco etc.. but much as I'm sometimes tempted it would be madness for me to do it now..

You've tried with no success. Do you keep trying or just give up?

Riding a bike for me is a joke, you think only kids get scraped knees, well I do too. And a sore bum too....how do you fall on that....I managed.

Several tries, no more.
When you are small your brain is like a sponge absorbing knowledge. You don't question it or think that you can't do it. Our previous neighbours were a Dutch/English couple. They had four children. The father's work had taken them to both France and Germany. Those four kids spoke their parents languages of English and Dutch, the were also fluent in French and German. Why that didn't surprise was because as a five year old, I learned Latin. I didn't question, think about or struggle, I just repeated and repeated, it was easy.

Many years later I found that Spanish, French and Portuguese easy to master. I've got The Romans and their Latin language to thank for that.

Can't read music. Can't play an instrument. Gave up.
I can read Gregorian that if that counts.:ROFLMAO: In college my gran bought me a recorder (musical instrument) for a Christmas gift. I wanted to take lessons but the only lessons I could get conflicted with my work schedule and my boss wouldn't let me come in a half an hour late one morning a week so I could take my recorder lessons. I should buy another recorder and take lessons now. I love recorder music. It's so soothing.

Do it Chic... did you know there are various types of recorders from descant to Bass. My daughter learned all of them when she was at infant school. ( I paid for her lessons ).. when she was about 7 or 8, the annual nativity play needed a David , but they didn't have a boy who could play a wind instrument, so Daughter got the part , front and centre playing her Bass Recorder.. it was almost as big as she was..
