Is This Family Care Service Too Much?

But I guess it could be helpful if someone has dementia and supervising them means they can stay at home longer

I would be ok with it if it meant that I could stay in my own home.

A few years ago I read about a system of sensors and cameras that could be installed in an elderly persons home that would monitor things like opening the refrigerator, showering, opening medication cabinets, etc…

I had big hopes for something like this when Google Glass first came on the market.

I would actually prefer the ‘big brother’ approach over having a well intentioned human in my space.

Using tech for the things you need is a great option. You do not have to use every feature. But elders who embrace some of this tech can try to remain independent longer

I think that if a person needed that kind of intense monitoring, maybe they shouldn't be left alone. It doesn't do much good to be notified that dad set the house on fire, if he doesn't get out. I prefer a system, when set up, to remind the loved ones of appointments, etc.- I think it's called an iPhone.
