no , it is not odd because you only know what you know obviously ...you did not know cramer has a terrible track record either . but facts are facts .; believing our own bull shit to be true can be one of the biggest obstacles to learning... arguing based on what we think rather then what facts and data prove can limit what we learn ...the butterfly is actually an offshoot of one of the most famous portfolio's in history , the harry brown permanent portfolio ..
it is just weighted more for prosperity with 40% in equities with a small cap tilt ,rather then equal dollars in all 4 asset classes , so it performs better than the pp in up cycles but the gold and long term treasuries hold the line in down cycles making it one of the top performing portfolio's ...
there are comparisons here of lots of popular portfolios you may never have heard of , but tops is the butterfly if you want a balance of gains , draw down and less losing years . there are other variations you never heard of like the desert portfolio or the all seasons portfolio . the pin wheel portfolio is another one that held up very well . all of the above use the rebalancing power of gold and likely long term treasuries .
