What is your favorite canned food?


I love stewed steak.

Chick peas.

Canned tamales. I like to eat them with eggs and pour the sauce over the eggs.

Canned tuna and salmon. Absolute lifesavers the two are when it comes to sandwiches, snack food, and even an occasional simple side.

Beans. Kidney, garbanzo, cannellini, pinto, and vegan refried pinto. I sometimes cook beans from dried form, but canned are always cooked perfectly and you can't beat the convenience.

I like sardines, packed in olive oil. I buy a brand that I like, online by the case. Also, I depend on canned beans as well, black beans, red beans, great northern and dark red kidney beans.

"Creamed" canned soups that have some veggies (Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Celery, Cream of Cauliflower etc.) I like to add some leftover chicken or pork + onions or garlic and then serve it over toast. These soups also seem to come in handy for other recipes as well.
