It is all over except for screaming

@Pepper I wonder if anyone has spoken to you, one of the hospital social workers perhaps, to talk over the options as, there may be a way for you, once you have recovered from surgery (if you decide to go ahead), to live independently.

I know a few people who have had medical issues which left them with a disability and they have help in their own homes. I don't know what the American system can provide but, of the people I know, some have been supplied with electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters or cars, adaptations to their home, home and/or personal care and financial assistance to help them pay for extra things they might need. In the UK we also have sheltered housing which normally provide emergency alarms etc. There may be similar schemes where you live. If you don't already have all the information, maybe your son and daughter-in-law can look into it for you.

It's your life and you must make whatever decision you feel is best for you. x

I do not have much information on this subject but perhaps you could get in touch with a local amputee support group or a rehabilitation resource center in your area in order to get some clarification and help. This might help you make a proper decision.
 
there's a lot of talkin around here and advice giving but having been on the other side of the fence at times I would say that what Pepper needs is a bloody good counsellor - a good professional listener - and I haven't heard one of those mentioned by anyone - family; friends or us??
