It may be a rumor but I heard our walmart is going to all self checkouts!

I imagine there are several methods for lifting merchandise for free from Walmart. Don't know why they make it so easy with self-checkout and scan guns. Yet when you try to buy some kind of petroleum product, the robot stops the checkout immedately and calls for the attendant to come right away. Uh-oh. What are you planning to do with that madam? Haha.

I always get pickup when I go to Walmart.
Same here. The handful of times I've been inside WMs I feel borderline assaulted by the high noise level, overly bright lighting, chaotic layout, additional displays that crowd the aisles, and unpleasant checkout experience. Granted, this is partly my ADHD shifting me into overwhelm mode, but either way it's a very unpleasant experience.

Instead, I log into their website, choose what I need - often accumulating things in my online cart for a week or longer - then checkout and pick it up within four days. Always opt for "no substitutions" and don't buy any perishables from them.

Most of my grocery shopping is done at a local chain that specializes in produce, Aldi, and Costco. Mid-week morning shopping to avoid crowds.

Do you feel the same way about using a ATM , instead of going into the bank and dealing with a bank teller in person ? I think it is the same principle , don't you ? JimB.
In my opinion, it is Not the same thing. Akin to comparing apples to oranges but that's just my opinion. Want me to shop in your store, provide a human to check me out, simple as that :coffee: . Don...

I prefer visiting with "Julie" at checkout, she provides info on sales or items we purchased that may have been a buy one, get one free, things like that, the personal touch you won't get from Fred (Frigging ridiculous electronic device). So, no, self checkout doesn't work for me. Provide a human cashier or I take my business to a business that will provide one. Don...
Macfan, I can't agree with you more. My "F" in F.R.E.D. is a little different. The damn things don't work that well. I've been known to beat on them.......... So, in order not to get hauled off by the cops for damages, I have to have a human check out.

Fuzzybuddy, I believe my "F" in F.R.E.D. matches yours but, I was trying to stay Family friendly don't ya know :). It appears you and I are on the same page when it comes to the checkouts. I'll hang on to 'Julie' and the younger generation can have F.R.E.D. :coffee:. Don...

There is the self check out at my neighborhood Walmart. Fine, no ploblem. I have found out that it is better to do it myself at othe grocery stores, Kroger, Albertsons, Tom Thumb.

I have found so often that the products on sale do not ring up at the correct price. By using the self checkout I see the problem right then and get it corrected. When you go to a cashier line they go so fast it is hard to see what comes up wrong and many people don't check their reciept. These corporations play tricky to get you into a store and then don't honor the sales price unless you check it.

There will always be people on both sides of a fence. Those that have reasons to use self checkout and those of us with reasons not to. Neither is more right or wrong than the other, just another personal choice. I like choices and in this case, I choose not to use the non-personal Artificial Intelligence, or F.R.E.D. :coffee:. Don...
