This is a major discussion on another group and so many want to believe in the cholesterol and statin path and plenty don't buy it. I'm one, I don't buy the cholesterol "myth". There are many sites on the Inflammation and heart disease issue. We've gone to this non fat, low fat crazy world and billions $$$ in statins???? And all their side effects...so more drugs for those s/e, many not reversible.

Do your own research.

Just reading more about this Dr. Lundell and turns out he had his medical license revoked in 2008 for speaking out against the establishment. One cannot speak out against pharma and drugs and keep their license to practice medicine. He's gone on to write books and educate people as best he can.

We have one MD in our town who had his license revoked as he too spoke out against the establishment. He went into retirement for a while and then became a naturopath and is now retiring on his own terms in his 80's.

I know what you're talking about. I am personally very confused. I think a lot of it is really has to do with genetics. I've read about the statin Zorcor in the newspaper at the time (the generic being zimvorstatin) how at higher levels at 80 mg it can cause serious side effects. Well, my doctor was not satisfied for my LDL being 50 (which is 50 below the recommended low of below 100) and she was going to up my mg to 80 mg. That's when I left her. And she wanted to put me on a osteoporosis medication just in case, although my bone density test came out fine. And she was worried that if I didn't take that statin that in 10 years I might have a stroke. That was 12 years ago. If you don't hear from me tomorrow, maybe I will have had that stroke tonight. Knock on wood big time!

I believe they want us to be confused, it's a huge numbers game. We're a bunch of numbers. Genetics yes in many areas but who knows for sure, my folks never had these numbers and lived into 90's....

Sometimes I think they made up the disease to fit the drugs they produced. Could be????

Disease, Drugs = Big Profits for pharma.

I'm gonna go with the surgeon who did my quad bypass and the various cardiologists (all of whom have kept their licenses) I've seen over the past few years. Given your history of providing medical advice on here and City Data and other sites, I assume you have ample medical mal-practice insurance.

People NEED to know other issues. Could be we've been fed a story miles long on this issue. There is info all over the place, books written, other doctors/researchers coming out. Go with your doctors but I've always looked at other issues as I've lost a lot of faith/trust in the medical profession. Diet is huge in heart issues also. Thanks.

Oh, Not too many books on inflammation, right.

Personally, I've followed Dr. Sinatra's advice for hearth health.

It's comments like this "One cannot speak out against pharma and drugs and keep their license to practice medicine", and the insinuation that medical profession allows people to suffer and die for profit when the know a "real cure" that are totally offensive. And untrue. You're welcome.

Oh many doctors have lost their medical license for going against the so called "standards".. We have one doctor here who did the same thing, worked to treat patients outside the box, and yes, his license was revoked but he spoke out from his heart not the guidelines..he went to AZ and started a naturopathic practice and then came back here and opened a Naturopathic practice and now in his 80's he's retiring on his own terms. But a lot of people benefited from his works. There are mavericks out there who speak up.

Many suffer and do die at the hands of doctors/drugs, I just lost my sister as she trusted the doctors and drugs. And yes, many lives are saved, we all know that. I've gone thru enough side effects with drugs that got me to where I think today.

This topic could be never ending, 100,000's die annually from drug interactions.

"Diet is huge in heart issues also."

Not necessarily for everyone...The more I read the more i believe it is 50/50...and mostly dependent on genetics . Not saying ignore it...just don't hang your hat on it......jmo.

Yes I do give advice from own experiences MOSTLY and my 25 yrs of working with alternatives for healing. And what I'm saying is not new, it's all out there being said my millions of others. And has been for many yrs. My mind is OPEN to all types of healing and just don't stop at one place. Been that route a long time ago.

Perhaps the Best information on the relationships between doctors and prescription drugs can be found at Propublica.org. That independent agency has been tracking the money flowing between the drug companies and doctors, for several years. This is one of many issues screwing up our healthcare system, and one that no one in Washington has ever addressed....probably because of the money the drug companies "donate" to our politicians.

here's all you need to know about dr lundell

https://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/lundell.html

please read the section about why he lost his license to practice. Nothing to do with "speaking out against pharma" etc.

I've read that and I know what I believe about Dr. Lundell...I'm not a fan of quackwatch, that doctor knocks everyone NOT in the "system" of major drugs. And any doctor who thinks outside "the box"... he knocks anything that isn't allopathic...he's probably well paid to do what he does. I read all about Dr. Lundell...and like SO MUCH, I don't believe everything I read and an awful lot I don't like about what's going on.
