It's just too hot !

Supposed to be in the 100's here in Houston for the next few days. Of course the humidity makes it worse. I get out early if I have to and then I am in for the rest of the day.

I remember that humidity
couldn't get away from it
no A/C
nights, no relief
anything over 80 and I'd have a steady dribble of sweat running from my beard

My grandson is doing basic training at Ft Sill
same heat

Gary Ft. Sill is only about 85 miles from me.

Like a fool I volunteered to go in the Army / basic at the beginning of summer (1967)......heat wise July and Aug. at Ft. Campbell, Ky. was a real bear.

I'll never forget the taste of drinking water out of a canvas lister bag that had been hanging out in the sun all day that the drill sergeants had added salt to because they knew most of us weren't taking our salt tablets......that stuff was hot and just plum nasty tasting but at least it was wet.

I will pass this story to my Grandson

It should give him a warm feeling

65F at 8 AM, here on the southcoast of Mass. May reach 80 later in the day - -depends on our "saving Grace" - -the ocean breeze, and whether it's strong, weak, or non-existent. :)

We're lucky up here momentarily.

Basic training in this weather would be brutal
He's limited in communication right now, but I'd like to think they do PT very early in the morn,
and fatigues would consist of an olive drab T-shirt...and (ugh) pants, boots.
Still, there's marching drills

I'm wearing cargo pants, nothing else, in his honor

I’d hope they do PT early in the mornings in this type of weather.
Basic trainings tough enough without a heat wave.

And to think you have 15 of them.
Thats a LOT of thought & concern I would assume.

We have been getting high temperatures here too
and we are not used to them 30-31 degrees C, I
think that is roughly 90F.

Mike.

I read the unusual heat and drought in the British Isles has parched the land
so much that long covered over signs of ancient buildings, walls and gardens
can now be seen from the air. Sweden is also having 90+ temperatures, even
above the Arctic Circle where the heat has caused fires. All of Northern Europe,
including Northwestern Russia, is having a heatwave.

After 110 here in Dallas, the weatherman here said help is on the way in the
form of a weak cold front that will bring us back down to the high 90s.

90s is our summer average high.

.

Texas, and the Western States have been having a brutal Summer, so far. We've had above average temps for the past couple of weeks, but a nice cold front came through yesterday, and we may have a nice mild week with highs only in the mid 80's. We may even be able to open some windows at night, and give the AC a break.

Need I say more?

Excessive Heat Warning

Central Arizona

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 8 ... High temperatures ranging from 114 to 118 degrees. Little overnight relief with lows only 85 to 93 degrees ...

What do you do in Arizona when it gets that hot?

Here in Dallas, with the unusual highs around 108-110, I've just been staying in the house.
When our high temps get back to the normal 90s, it will feel cool.

The whole of the UK has turned brown, no green grass
anywhere.

There was some rain a couple of day ago, but it was
in the North West and traveled South East, but stopped
before it reached us.

Next week is more of the same.

Mike.

I do what most of us do STAY IN AIR CONDITIONED LOCATIONS!!
