It's that time of year again.

Hallothanksmasyear.

And I'm gonna complain about the same thing I complain about every year. Thanksgiving is treated like a Cinderella stepchild. The stores are already full of Hallowe'en stuff and even Christmas stuff, maybe a nod here and there in between to Thanksgiving if you look closely enough and dig deep enough.

Thanksgiving seems to be merely a grocery-store holiday in the retail world.

The young generation doesn't value 'Thanksgiving' in it's original sense anymore.

The former generations were thankful that God and nature gave them the fruits, vegetables and animals to live.

Nowadays every kind of food is available in all supermarkets. They don't depend on good weather and enough but not too much rain for crops.

TG was always my least favorite holiday. I'm here to tell you, it trails after St. Patrick's Day.

To me, the only thing good about TG is my family getting together for several hours.

TG food is meh at best, so it's lucky to even get (unloved) stepchild status. f:p

Just my humble opinion.

The original Thanksgiving was thanks not only to God, but to Native Americans sharing THEIR own bounty with starving foreigners, who then turned around, stole their land and slaughtered them. Hard to love that...

I agree. I like my holidays to be celebrated in order. I dont mind some Halloween now as jack o lanterns can be repurposed as pumpkins but I dont want to see Christmas. Wait your turn.

Ive been getting out my fall decorations. I dont even want to think about Christmas yet.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I agree that it has been overshadowed by all of the consumer Christmas hype and hoopla.

I was horrified to see a Christmas themed Disney vacation commercial on television today, I suppose they start early so people can make plans.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too. Christmas is often split between two sides of the family trying to make time with both sides, too much fretting over gifts, hurt feelings when some didn't get what they wanted, etc. - and in my case, there is only one of me, but if I go to the Christmas get togethers, I'd either have to take no gifts, or as many as 30 minimum, and neither of those work for me.
