I've been getting calls from a prison.

I still have a land line. And for the last couple of days I've been getting a spate of calls when the answering machine comes on, they hang up. But I just happened to notice they all were from 1-570-644-****. There were several different numbers , but all from the Coal Township State Correctional Institution. I have absolutely no idea why anyone in the prison system would be trying to contact me. And if it is official, why won't they leave a message? I'm not sure what to do about it.
We do have an escaped murderer on the loose in PA.

Google says:
The caller actually is an inmate from a local prison, trying to make phone calls at your expense. It's called custom forward calling and links your number to the number that is being dialed from. If you fall prey to this scam, inmates will be able to make future collect calls on your dime.
I would ask the police for advice on how to stop this.

Right on.

I was down in Chester County all day Sunday helping with the search. County jailers need better training on how to handle prisoners when moving them from one area to another. If someone helped him escape, that person may be his new cell mate.

I signed up for Thursday, if he’s still on the run. The problem with doing a search is that usually the prisoner can see you before you see him.

Be careful @911. I read he's very dangerous!!

I certainly hope that the escaped killer is no where close to where you live FB! He's been in the news every day and spotted on video 6 times over the past week. I saw on the news that a man suspects him of breaking into his home when he was there. If it was indeed him, that man is lucky not to have been harmed.

I like @Jules answer. If someone actually wanted to speak to you, I believe an operator would come on and ask you to accept a collect call. At least that's what happened when one of my step sons was in prison (in NJ) and he'd call here either to speak with my husband or ask me to provide a hook up for him to speak with his girlfriend.

What happened for me in florida was someone had picked our name out of a phone book, wrote the number on the wall by
payphone, and inmates would call long distance, giving our number to the operator...found out by watching my bills, and
seeing all these long distance calls....I tracked backwards on the
call and let the jail know what was going on...they stopped it somehow, along with ma bell helping too....

I was asked to stay over for Friday if he’s still on the run. I agreed. I think he’s held up somewhere during the day and on the move at night. We are using some very high intensity bulbs that lights up the night like daylight. That’s all I can say about this for now, but additional information has been added. I will be there at daybreak tomorrow morning.

I did catch an escapee 18 years ago from Huntingdon State Prison, or SCI Huntingdon.

This guy is originally from Brazil. I am told he scaled a wall onto a roof and then went over a razor wire fence. We are unaware if he has any weapons, but that shouldn’t be a problem getting them in that area.

Escapee

Could be too that someonethere is cloning your number to
use to make calls....that happened to me several yrs ago in florida....
Am I the only one who wonders why cloning phone numbers can't be prevented by the phone company.

And why can someone send you email using another person's email address?

We're told that internet security is a number 1 priority.

I can't help but think it's intentionally available for marketing purposes.

You may be surprised to learn how many people who are privy to personal information are willing to sell it. We have caught people doing it. Hackers have ways of tracking and stealing email addresses and cellphone numbers. Hackers can sit in front of your home and if you are on your cellphone or computer, it is possible for them to steal your information.

Thanks for worrying about me. The escapee is about a two hour drive south of me.

I too would report this to the police. Can you block the numbers? I have a land line with the cable company. I like that block feature.

I searched with the State Police team on Thursday and Friday. We had a sighting yesterday morning, but it was false. The state fired the guard that was in charge of the pathway where our prisoner escaped through. I crawled under a few homes and found nothing, except creepy, crawly things. I left very disappointed. I was really hoping to nab this guy.

I’m flying down to Florida this afternoon with “oldman.” He invited my wife and I down to his house, so we agreed this would be a good time to take a break. Besides, I need to get some golf time in, although I won’t beat him. I know I will gain some weight. He likes to eat out a lot, so there goes the waistline.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
