I've been MIA for a few days

It hit me a couple weeks ago that since Ron and I chose Fall 2020 as when we'd get married, and here it was mid November, I'd better make a few calls so that we could secure a venue. Man was I in for a surprise!!!!

We don't want an elaborate, formal wedding, but we DO want a fun and meaningful celebration in an environment that speaks to who we are. You'd think that would be simple, right? WRONG.

I had NO IDEA that weddings were such big business!!! OMG guys, it's unbelievable! Trying to find an inexpensive venue, even a year out, has been a huge battle, and with the focus these days at least here in the South, on barnyard, rustic type weddings which I don't want, it's been a challenge to find anything different, and even harder to find anything actually available!!!

Every morning before work I've been on the computer looking for places. Every night after work we've been out visiting them, sometimes with my daughter, sometimes with his, sometimes just the two of us. I had no idea it was going to be this much work. If I'd known, I would have started months ago, instead of right as my busiest work season was hitting.

It occurred to me just yesterday that next week was Thanksgiving. NEXT WEEK!!!! I've done virtually nothing! I called my daughter in a panic and asked her if she'd get the ball rolling on that, which she was more than happy to do.

Anyway, that's where I've been and what I've been doing. My morning computer time has been consumed with all things wedding, so I apologize if there are questions I've left unanswered, conversations I haven't replied to, things I've let go. Mea Culpa. Be patient with me. As soon as I've secured a venue I'll regain some time...not to mention my sanity!!!....and get back in the swing. 😘

Thanks for the update Ronni.
A December wedding 👰 could be exciting but I like the idea of the backyard wedding. It’s so touching and personal and won’t cost a fortune. 🎩
Good luck either way.

And considering how Ronni is good at decorating, I bet she'll enjoy it and save a bundle that they can use for the honeymoon. win-win Depending if in TN it's bad weather that time of year.

Anyway, living where you do, you should have no trouble getting great music for the reception!

My son is a musician. 4 of my granddaughters are singers. My future step-son in law is a musician and a DJ and a music producer. I won't have to look any further than family to get set up with wonderful music! My son will play and my 4 granddaughters will sing as I walk down the aisle. I just have to decide what song.

Ron's house should be finished remodeling by next fall, you would not or could not have it in the backyard? Have the food catered?

I have seriously considered and then rejected the idea of a backyard wedding, a park wedding, an outside wedding..any outside venue, because DAMMIT I CAN'T CONTROL THE WEATHER and the idea of having to come up with a wedding plan, PLUS a contingency wedding plan should the weather be bad...well, I'll drive myself mental over that. Lots of folks do..they have a tent rental on standby, or there's an alternate venue at the same location that that can squeeze their guests into etc. Can't do it. I'm going with an indoor venue so weather at least is one less thing to worry about.

I am SO looking forward to decorating the venue, which we've decided on by the way. It's called Events On Main, an event venue in a small country town just outside of Nashville. It's not elegant or formal, it's a bit funky with wood columns and an exposed brick wall...everything that we were looking for. Not a blank canvas, because I wanted some character to the venue, but interesting enough that layering some tulle and greenery and flower splashes and fairy lights over the existing structure will make it lovely.

The venue decorate for someone's wedding. Nothing fancy, but we love the vibe. Envision it with more twinkle, tulle, greenery, a wedding arch against that brick.

Yes, the weather IS a big factor. Here in Tucson we're a bit spoiled, we know when it's rainy season. One year it didn't rain for 3 months and that was during the ''dry season''. Glad you found a venue, one less thing to worry about, and I'm sure it will look beautiful on your wedding day.

ADDED: Of course, the ''dry season'' is also the hottest and no one wants to be outdoors. LOL Nothing is perfect.
