Don't think I'd be stopping for a close encounter like this, could have turned out very badly...what do you think??

It was in River Legacy Park in Arlington, Texas. We have a lot of coyotes in my area, some of them have attacked pets, people and children. When they come too close to my back chain link fence, I rush out into the yard clapping and shooing them away.

I think a lot of people feed them, they have less and less fear of people, in the suburbs and cities anyway. I carry a pepper spray in case a coyote gets too assertive. I once had one come after me when I was walking my dog on a leash, but we had caught it by surprise and she was with her pup. Although she barked and followed up for quite awhile to make sure her pup was safe, she kept enough distance where I didn't feel immediately threatened. We had a bear encounter while camping in Canada, and it tore into our truck going after dry dog food. Although it was a remote area, it was not afraid of us or our large male Alaskan Malamute dog.

The coyote is a typical gang member, like human gang members; intimidating while among the gang but COWARDLY by itself!
Scared of a small bobcat. LOL

Yes, I know nothing about these animals at all, but could see the coyote was a young one. neither the cat or coyote was at all bothered by the cyclists, which is strange. could this have been filmed on a reserve for these animals?

We had several coyotes in our area, when we first moved to the boondocks. However, over the years, as more people moved into the area, and began raising chickens, etc., the local coyote population got "thinned out". About the 2nd year we lived here, my Son-in-law and I were deer hunting in our woods, and a Big coyote came walking right towards me. He got about 30 feet away when he realized something was wrong, and he bared his teeth, the hair on his back raised up, and just about that time, I pulled the trigger, and that 270 Winchester put him out of his misery. In the Winter, I've seen some big cat tracks in the snow, so we probably have a bobcat in the area, but if so, it stays well away from the house. The Only thing I miss is the red foxes we used to have...they were fun to watch, and often followed me around the yard as I was working. However, the "chicken" people have pretty much taken care of them over the years.

I'm in suburbia but we now have coyotes, foxes, white tail deer, wild turkeys, bobcats and a mountain lion (so I hear re: the mountain lion). When the prey animals we reintroduced into my area after being hunted to extinction in the 19th century, the predators followed close behind. I never saw any of these animals when I was growing up but now we're loaded with them.

I've encountered lots of coyotes but they run away. Never seen a bobcat up close and personal and don't think I want to. Cats are too unpredictable.
