Japanese Sweet Potatoes

Article on MSN this morning about the latest food fad celebrities are getting into - Japanese Sweet Potatoes! I started with sweet potatoes 3 years ago to aid in my TYPE II management. I researched, read what I could & decided after testing them for taste to implement them into my diet. White, yellow, orange & purple fleshed are the most common. I usually opt for the orange, something about purple food doesn't appeal to me.

I eat 1 C a day (steamed half n half with lunch & dinner). I found that my glucose levels remained constant, my PCP was elated & has reduced my prescription for insulin by 50%. My intake of the essential nutrients & FIBER has straitened me out. I'm off all supplements I had been taking because everyone else did. I never jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon, but do eat real organic butter & whole dairy products, more than I ever did. I use it to cook with foregoing the hype surrounding virgin olive oil.

Most of the olive oil you buy is probably nothing more than the common vegetable oil so no trust there. I take everything I read on the web with a cautious approach, as Will Rogers said, 'Believe nothing of what you hear, half of what you read & all of what you see'. I see my BS results & my weight loss as a positive thing. I take very, very limited medication, mostly watching what I eat, get my exercise, don't consume alcohol (it's now on the avoid list, again), don't smoke & eat nothing processed. No breads, pasta & certain fruits, no soft drinks (only coffee) & get my 8-10 servings of fruit & vegetables daily. It works for me!
