I've hear so many reports of what happened to him, everything from being encased in concrete, to being incorporated into the concrete foundation of some high-rise building, to being put through a wood-chipper, and the list goes on.
I was working at the Detroit News when Hoffa disappeared. People were calling in with the most bizarre ideas where he was. We had to treat everyone politely and promise to pass the info on to a reporter. My opinion is that he is one of the "pillars of the community".....in that a "continuous pour" was going on down at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit and the cement men were Teamsters, so he just might be holding up one of the parking garages these days. As good a theory as the others.
We had just eaten at Machus Red Fox (the last place he was seen) a couple of weeks before and I later wondered if I had ever seen Jimmy Hoffa any of the times we had gone there.
Interestingly enough, twelve years ago, I dated a nephew of one of the many suspects in Hoffa's death. I won't mention names as his was not the same. He had never met his infamous uncle.
I tend to believe the story that Jimmy Hoffa was killed and dismembered in Detroit. According to the legend/story, Hoffa's remains were then placed in a 55-gallon drum, loaded onto a Gateway Transportation truck, and were driven to New Jersey where they were buried in a landfill that is now a public wildlife refuge.
He supposedly wound up under one of the NY Giants goal posts in the Meadowlands in Rutherford, NJ. That was debunked when the new Stadium for the Giants and Jets was built.
Could he be in the Oreo bunker that Nabisco built? . Hmm, I have my time periods mixed up. Anyway, I remember this case, I think. Union guy vs mob guy? Mob mostly wins, IMO.
