I liked and listened to most of the 'Folk' groups/ singers of the 60's! I did not and do not like all of their politics, or lifestyles but I was/am deeply moved by much of their music and talent. Of course, Joan Baez was one I really enjoyed. Along with the Weavers, Highwaymen, Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, New Christy Minstrels, etc., etc. many more I cannot recall right now...

I loved the songs she lent to "Silent Running" which is a favorite movie of mine. Can you imagine "Star Wars" using Joan's songs?

As a teenager in the 60's, I grew up with the protest songs of the time and Joan was a favourite.

I joined a few marches to try and change the World but hung my boots up many years ago.

I was listening to this just this morning. Looks like her house shown on Sunday Morning is likely the same one in this video.

She was an early favorite of mine, literally wore-out the Farewell Angelina vinyl LP.

JB was around when I was growing up. I didn't listen to her music too much, but she was always in with the music scene.
She looks good and young for her age.

She called the exhibit “Mischief Makers” – portraits of risk-taking visionaries who have brought about social change through nonviolent action. The bulk of the collection was subsequently purchased by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and donated to Sonoma State University, where it will eventually be displayed at an envisioned new social justice learning center on campus.

There's a handful of artist that formed my musical preferences, she is one of them. All these years later, after listening to thousands of songs by hundreds of artist, I still find joy in her music.

Baez is generally regarded as a folk singer, but her music has diversified since the counterculture era of the 1960s and encompasses genres such as folk rock, pop, country, and gospel music. She began her recording career in 1960 and achieved immediate success.

Just heard a nice interview with her on Marc Maron's podcast. She's terrific. The first time I saw her in concert (about one zillion years ago) I was blown away by how funny she is. She's delightful.
