John Denver

Know who I miss? John Denver. Loved his music. Still listen to it . there are so many of his concerts on You Tube and I have all his music. When Sue is blue, out comes my guitar and I sing a John Denver song to her. She rewards me with a hug and a kiss and says I sing so good....I think she only says that not to hurt my feelings:) He died way too soon in a plane accident back in 1997. Hard to believe he's been gone that long. So many songs, so many memories......

I don't miss him in the sense that I didn't know him personally, and we still have him with us through the medium of Youtube et al... but I think the world was robbed of good music when he died ...

I liked some of his music..not all... But here are my 2 very favourites...

I miss him too Moosehead, sad when he died. I really like a lot of his music. Nice that you can play your guitar and sing one of his songs to your wife when she's blue. :love_heart:

I liked him in the 60's when he started but of course he was sorta always competing with R&R. If you read some of his life story you will find a strict upbringing by an army father and the family often moving around - can be disruptive to klds. But he managed to survive all of that and took up the guitar and singing seriously - and he enabled me to fall in love many times in my teens. But his own family life was affected by the division of his career and being a husband and dad - and the latter two suffered. He had taken to drinking a little too much in his later years and that may have contributed to the fatal crash although the findings indicated his disregard for fuelling up before taking off and the awkwardness of the emergency or reserve fuel tank tap behind either the pilots seat or passenger seat - he was unable apparently to operate it and he ran outa fuel. A sad loss to the musical industry as a whole and to country and western in particular. The country songs reverberate across many countrysides in many countries. Peace JD (y)
