Journey & Toto Concert! Great!

We just returned from the Journey and Toto concert. Toto is one of my favorites and opened with such hits as Hold The Line, Rosanna, I'll Be Over You and Africa. They were fantastic! I was surprised how many young people (even 20's) knew all the words to their songs.

Journey was the main attraction. Steve Perry, the lead singer, has long since left and has been replaced by Filipino Arnel Pineda, who eerily sounds just like him. Neal Schon is the original guitarist and is even better than he was back in the day. They were amazing!

I always say we need something to look forward to and this didn't disappoint!

Sounds like a great time!

I've seen Journey several times from their earliest era but did not go to the 2022 concert here 2 weeks ago in the SFBA because the venue was still requiring mask wearing. For the same reason, have not attended any indoor rock concerts since the pandemic began. That mandate has now been lifted, so yesterday purchased my first rock concert tickets in 2+ years.

Dead and Company is playing at Shoreline 2 dates mid June. Know several people that always go to Dead shows that are always special here in their home region. Tickets for seats were up over $140. Aftermarket became worse immediately. The venue also has a general admission grassy lawn above that is less expensive and of course that is where all the dancers are. Personally as a rock fan from the earliest era, I hate experiencing rock sitting in seats that only began in the late 70s. Online, Livenation was pricing lawn tickets at $56.50 but then was adding huge $29 fees on top of that for $86 that includes credit card fees. And lowest aftermarket lawn tickets were all above $120 with fees. And to think I once regularly bought Filmore West tickets with 3 or 4 bands playing into the wee hours for just $7!

Livenation is also increasingly forcing all attendies without any paper ticket options to enter all their venues with a mobile smartphone at gates, a policy I dislike even more because I can't stand, because as a dancer, I hate big items in my pockets. Instead this particular venue has a box office open only on Wednesday for a few hours midday that few people know about as is no longer advertised online, so yesterday without knowing what to expect since there is no info phone, went down and bought a ticket for the $56.50 advertised price without any fees or tax. After talking to them with a manager involved, they very nicely gave me special paper receipt so I will be able to enter without a smartphone. You can understand why Livenation no longer advertises the box office trick.

Yes, Livenation and Ticketmaster charge exorbitant fees but there is really no way around it. We did get into a parking garage that I would have paid $30 for in advance but they only charged us $20 if we paid cash. It's all about knowing how to get around it!

Enjoy your concert! I'm glad you are finally able to get out there again. IMO there is nothing better for the soul than music. (y)
