The trouble these days is (sounds like an old timer talking, don't it?), the trouble these days is that the media mainly emphasizes the nutter, the crazies, the weirdos and the mass shootings in both of our countries. It almost never talks about the majority of just plain good folks who are trying to get by and being decent, law-abiding citizens. These people are the back-bone of both of our countries; not the crazies that get their 15 minutes of "glory" on the 6 o'clock news. I just wish we would give more credit to those that deserve it. I call these good people, "the silent majority", the people who do right, help others, are great family people but you'll never see them on that 6 pm news. That's OK, they are the real heroes of their country in the long run and we should all be proud of them.
