Just A Thought For the People In Louisiana

I was reminded today on the local news of the heat bearing down on the people in Louisiana with no power and water. I have been through no power due to storm damage in the heat of August but I had water and a shower is a blessing when there is no AC. Hurricanes strike in the hottest months of the year.

One of our electrical companies has sent a large team of repairmen and equipment to that area, and they are reporting that much of that area may not have full power restored until late September. That, coupled with at least another month of very hot weather, and the lack of running water, is going to create almost unlivable conditions.

On an equally large scale, there are millions still unemployed, or underemployed...as a result of this virus...who are falling way behind on their electric and utility bills. Suspension of service has been halted, but that ruling is due to expire within the next few days. Service cutoffs may become a major issue soon.

What did they do before the invention of A/C???

I say nightly prayers for those residents that have been effected by Hurricane Laura
In Jan'06 I went on a church mission trip to D'Iberville ,Miss to help with the cleanup after Hurricanes Katrina&Rita nearly destroyed this small coastal town. The damage those storms did,see the after math up close was mind boggling.

My daughter in law was born and bred in Louisiana....She is now up North....Her Dad, has cancer....He lost the top of his
home....And his daughter who has a home lost the house....In the Hurricane....Her Dad had the roof fixed and his
daughter is living with him now....Don't know if it will be built up....My daughter in law cried when she heard from her dad,
that her childhood home is gone.. But for the grace of God, they are OK....
Many people are still without water....It's going to take a long time to get Lake Charles,Louisiana.. open again....

Prayers for them Gulf Coast folks offered up, especially those South of I-10.

ms gamboolgal and I have lived all along the Gulf Coast over the since 1978 working the oifields when we wasn't living overseas. Mobile Bay, Alabama, Slidell, LA, Orange, Tx, Spring, Tx. Been thru many hurricanes, Ice Storms, Tornadoes resulting in No Power afew times. Longest stretch was about 2 weeks and it was unpleasant for sure. But lots of 2 days to a week - not fun for sure. We went thru no power in Africa afew times but not for long stretches.

We are spoiled to Air Con, and the internet for sure.... The locals in Africa - they lived a tough life for sure. Not having electricity was common for them and no Air Con was the norm for them. We often talked about how if a EMP hit - they would be fine as the Westerners would struggle and perish....

Again, prayers for the folks along the Gulf Coast during this hard time.

gamboolman....
