Vital service those linemen perform all over American in any kind of weather. Hooray for your SIL.

That's not in your neighbourhood is it Mrs. Robinson? I'm assuming that you didn't have to grab your suitcase and laptop from the table and run did you? We had some friends last year who lived in an area that seems to be threatened by fires every year and I know last year, it was advancing pretty fast in their direction. Must be a dreadful thing to watch and wait.

As for lineman like your son in law and other first responders, we sure do need people like that don't we? They become our heroes after fires and snow storms and tornadoes! I hope they know how much they are appreciated in times of disaster. Maybe on a day to day basis when we need a phone line put in and they're a bit slower to show up than we'd like to see (because we're such an impatient bunch :)) we should keep this kind of thing in mind.

No Debby, the fire was on the other side of my county-about 20 miles away. Could have reached us if it traveled in this direction but fortunately it went the opposite direction.

I`m assuming the link didn`t work? It was SIL and his coworker being helicoptered out to the jobsite-pretty cool-IF you don`t mind hanging off a helicopter.....:)

How great that the winds didn't shift eh? My goodness this has been a bad year for fires hasn't it? And hanging off the side of a helicopter is definitely not on my bucket list!

The link didn't work for me Mrs. R. Thanks for the photo, makes you appreciate the work they do, kudos to your son in law!
