my young teen mail kid stopped by to give me my mail...then said I got some ice
cream for you!!!!!! wow, I was speechless for a couple minutes....so anyway he'd stopped at the supermarket on his way here and bought a gallon of rocky road,
and brought it with him, so he and i sat down and enjoyed a small bowl of it...and
chatted about school, and after school plans and so on....what treat he is!!!!!:giggle:

That was a very nice thing for him to do. There are a lot of good caring people in this world of all ages, nice to be touched by one now and then. Happy for you, sounds like a pleasant visit.

It is just a simple, small thing that brings so much joy and connection with our neighbors. I have a neighbor across the street who was widowed a couple of years ago Her husband came and mowed my lawn a few times when my husband was getting surgery/cancer treatments. I can;t do the yard work but do like to treat her to home baked bread and cookies. I know she also loves cantalope so if I am at the farmers market I will pick up a melon and tomatoes for her.

Next door to her lives a young family. They have 3 young boys and all of them have albinism. They can't get out a lot because of their illness. When I am baking there is always a bag just for them. They always bring joy to the street when the weather is overcast/safer for them to come out to play.

It is such a gift, a wonder that people around us pay attention and try to help and make a difference. I have been here for 30 years, many people came or gone but for the most part we have had the same neighbors. Sad to say but most of those gone have passed from old age. I hope I can stay here until I die.
