Just wondering how people deal with holidays on their own?

Hello Carrol450, I am new to this chat on line thing. Divorced 5 years ago and kids go to dad's for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We celebrate Thanksgiving the day after, so Thanksgiving I cook for the next day. But if you mean you are totally alone, which I sometimes am on major holidays, I usually go to a movie and get or make myself a nice meal. I might see what a single friend is doing...forget all my married friends...you would think one of them would invite me for a holiday but doesn't happen. I invited 2 of my single friends for Passover last year. One year I went to Florida and spent Christmas week with another single friend. So it just depends, but it stinks anyway to be alone on holidays. I try to tell myself it is just another day, but really, it doesn't totally work. Sequoia from NY

When my children first married and moved far away I would either volunteer to work that day or just pretend it was not a holiday and sleep the day and night away. Now that my youngest son and daughter both live in Florida I am fortunate enough to be able to spend the holidays with family.
