SOURCE: Kayaker survives being swallowed by humpback whale in Chile

A kayaker has said he thought he was going to die when he was swallowed by a humpback whale.

Adrian Simancas was off the coast of Chile, in the Strait of Magellan, when it surfaced and gobbled up his yellow boat.

His father, who was nearby in another kayak, captured the incident on camera.

"I thought I was dead," said Mr Simancas. "I thought it had eaten me, that it had swallowed me."

OMG! Thank God he escaped.

A whale of a tail.

I saw this on the news tonight. I don’t usually watch the news but saw this as a sneak preview so decided to watch it. The whale spit the kayaker back out and the guy was completely unharmed.

I really love salmon. I ā€˜ve never tried smoked salmon before. Changes in textures really gets me. Just the idea that the salmon is dried out and smoked turns me off but for you I will at least try it.

My father-in-law used to smoke his own and every batch seemed to use less salt and sugar than the one before. But it was always moist with concentrated salmony goodness. I'd choose it over any restaurant prepared fresh salmon.

Oddly enough, my husband has been talking about getting a smoker for the longest time. He’s waiting for one to go on sale. They are really expensive.

Lox is a moist smoked salmon --shaped like a steak, delicious. I could live on the stuff.
Smoked salmon, Alaska native style, is dry and shaped in sticks. A substitute for jerky. Tough, salty, dry, not so delicious, but useful
.

Patty, you can build your own smoker or you can make lox on your stovetop. I don't remember exactly how I rigged it, but it involved wood chips in a wok and a steamer and a little liquid smoke to assist.
Not as good maybe, but really really good.

This was in big silver packages. It came in chunks and was very moist. Maybe next time I’ll actually try it first before I assume I don’t like it.

I won’t bother telling my husband this but thanks all the same.

A little smoked salmon goes a long way. Cream cheese helps.
