Keep saving the boxes or not?

We immediately tear down any box that anything comes in and put it in the recycling bin. If we ever have to move we will get boxes from U-Haul.

I have been on a "clean up and toss out" mission since I retired almost 2 years ago. We will soon have nothing in our closets. I want to 1) have as little as possible to have to move or 2) have as little as possible for someone else to clean out if I should pass away.

I admire you, but I don't have the right stuff to get rid of my stuff! Plus, I don't plan to move - I want to die in place. I will continue to use the many Amazon and Chewy boxes as a mulch base, since my daughter has repeatedly said she will just get the biggest dumpster she can when I die. /-; I already told my good neighbors to feel free to pillage my place before she gets here!

What do you with your boxes?
Recycle right away, too much junk around here without the boxes.

My grandmother always kept her boxes and carefully stored them. She also threw out the boxes if she got rid of something, which was a bit rare. When she died and we went through the house we found boxes for things like her hats and Christmas ornaments well over 50 years old. Don't guess I inherited that gene.

We keep a few, especially those for items than have a warranty. Occasionally we’ve had to do a return and it’s helpful. We used to have a lot for mailing gifts and also plenty of packing wraps. Now I just give $ so it’s a rare day a box is needed. They can come in handy for organizing.

Glad I can just put a birthday gift in a colorful bag w/ tissue paper these days ... so easy

I really hated putting things in a box, and trying to make it look professionally done. I was awful at it!

I'll keep a few in the garage for a while but usually they all wind up in the trash bin on a 'clean out the garage day'.
I've found that I do use the smaller ones more for storage in closets though.

I have a small stash or those colorful bags in the closet with the boxes! :giggle:

The good news is that I don’t save egg cartons, newspapers, and string like my parents did.

This little book is a bit of nostalgia about the thrifty savers that raised most of us.

Same here @dseag2.

Unless boxes, and other cardboard/paper products, are stored in a very dry clean environment, pest control people say that is an invitation for vermin to make themselves at home .... just saying.

Our summer humidity here has been running as low as 6%. Sometimes we don’t even have to take things apart, the glue totally dries and they fall apart by themselves.
