Keep your Covid card

When you get vaccinated for this virus, you will be given a CDC card showing when you got the vaccine, and which brand. It may be important, in the future, to have this card available for airline travel, etc....especially if this pandemic continues to flare up in the future. I just saw this article stating that Staples will Laminate these cards, for free, for the next few weeks. We'll be near a Staples store sometime in the next couple of weeks, and get our cards laminated, just in case.

Good advice. Another tip I have been reading a lot lately is to not take a picture of you card and post it on places such as FB. I have seen several friends do this. I understand the enthusiasm for wanting to share the news with others but posting a picture of the card is not advised.

I dont know if there are different types of LAMINATING processes,

but I read that. IF there is hand-written, in ink, entries on your card,
that some people have found those parts to fade enough to NOT BE legible, from the laminating.
Yikes!

Mine has some printed labels, but has some parts written in by the nurse, especially the first doses dates..... (before they knew there was a problem with doing that)

So I would take care, if you plan to laminate yours, and if it has any significant parts written on it,
by those who gave them to you.

Yeah, I'm not sure laminating is a good idea. I tried to slip mine into one of those little zip-lock bags that are for trading cards and stuff but it's too wide to fit. I just stuck it in my wallet, but I'm going to cut down a sandwich bag for it and just tape the open edges shut.

Have been reading about vaccination passports being required by certain airlines. Would be nice if it became standardized.

I wonder if the card is painted with clear nail varnish,
before laminating, will that protect the handwriting
from fading/disappearing?

Mike.

IDK, I wonder if the heat from the laminating process would melt the nail varnish and maybe make a mess?

Anyway, I just heard that Office Depot (I think they're owned by Staples or vice versa?) will laminate Covid Vax cards for free; probably the clerks in the store would know if laminating was safe for handwritten ink. (I just today had some stuff laminated, both color and b&w, that was printed by an inkjet printer and it turned out fine.)

In the news there is talk of people uploading their vaccination card in an app, I hope it will be easier than cashing checks via apps, I feel "yelled at" when I cash a check and the app says "too close!" "hold steady!".

The card could be a little smaller to fit in the wallet. Mine sticks out a little and will get chewed up after a while, but then I won't carry it all the time, so I can live with it

That's right. They don't fit into anything, which is another good reason not to carry it, except when needed.
I would not trim it! As it's considered so official.
I will just make copies or take pictures (both sides) for now.

Oh no, you folded it... @SetWave
Is that legal?
If not, perhaps you should get your first shot again, and later, the second (that would be a third) :ROFLMAO::sneaky:

Legal Smegal. They certainly expected people to stick it in a wallet and could have made it . . . wallet sized.
Okay . . . first shot second, second shot third and once more just for fun.
Think I'll just keep it with my passport.
