Are there any foods you loved as a child that you still like now?

For me it's chocolate milk. ( Or a mug of hot chocolate in the wintertime).

Beets, sliced and pickled, with a side of cottage cheese.

Beets are said to contain valuable "antioxidants", identifiable by the dark color. I think other red veggies are also thus endowed: red cabbage and onions. OTOH, beets are a bit deficient in fiber, compared to their size. I love them pickled: is that the same as "sweet-sour"? imp

Miller High life beer.

Miller Draft is one of few domestic beers claiming no preservatives or additives, as it should be. Maybe their whole product line, not sure on that. REAL BEER: 4 ingredients only: water, hops, yeast, and malt! imp

My mother used to make sort of a casserole with ground beef, macaroni and tomatoes. To this day I still love it, but mine never tastes quite like hers did.

Also ice cream, yum. I love pickled beets, too. And fresh tomatoes straight from the garden.

Why is it that the old simple stand-by dishes made so often by our mothers, just don't meet the taste standards when we now prepare them? Aged taste-buds? imp

I love pickled beets, still make them. Also love apple butter, and homemade Mac and cheese with pieces of tomato. Black fruitcake with marzipan and royal icing.
