Kids Having Old Fashion Fun

Around 8:00 pm. Several parents came by to drop off their kids, along with a few folding tables to be set up with refreshments for the kids. We have known the parents since they use to come over to play with our kids. It was real good to see them again.

They kids used our flat bottom skiff to row out to our wooden floating platform, and four kids at a time would row out to the platform and set up and fire off their sky rockets. Then the kids jumped off the platform, and swam back to land, letting four more kids boat out to fire off another round.
This went on until about 12:30 am. Their parents pick up the kids, with the promise that they would come back today to clean up all the missed trash and retrieve the tables.

A couple of the parents promised to bring us some of their BBQ this afternoon.
We haven't had so much fun in a long time, and I got a feeling we will be seeing of the kid throughout the summer.:happy::happy:

I think our lake/pond had been forgotten by the neighborhood until now. The Lake/pond is approximately 1000 X 750 yards. Hubby corrected my measurements of yesterday, I think I said feet. I wonder what size the designates a body of water as a lake instead of a pond?
The kids were about 10 to 15 years old. We just kept an eye on them for safety. I think if you show kids that there is a way to have old fashion fun they are receptive.
But I wonder if we should make an agreement with the parents to promise not to let their kids come over to swim without an adult to watch over them. We have let them fish off the bank as long as them did so in pairs.

Thanks for the link Meanderer, I guess we have a large pond, although we have never found the bottom, and no vegetation grows up from the bottom, and it has a little sandy beach area.
