King Charles and Queen Camilla visit US

I watched a news clip earlier today of King Charles presenting the US president with what was described as a personal gift.

Let’s hope it doesn’t crack like the bell cast in London in 1752 and shipped to Pennsylvania.

The recent gift, a bell from a British WW2 T-Class Submarine.

From the clips I've seen, King Charles represented the UK exceedingly well, especially considering our European allies have basically been given the middle finger and are suffering from a war they weren't even consulted about.

He was the ultimate statesman, and he even got in a couple of zingers without offending anyone. Regardless of any feelings I may have about the Royal Family, IMO that's how it's done when visiting another country. I'm sure the Queen would have been proud.

I agree. It was refreshing to hear such thoughtful comments.

Everything went fairly smoothly, with the exception of the reception line debacle the other day. Probably the best outcome over all considering the recent falling out between the two countries over the Iran issue. It will be interesting to see if the visit makes a lasting difference or not.

Normally I feel these Royal visits are a waste of time & $$ but in this case I feel it was probably worthwhile, at least in the short term.

Well, we all know that our current leader lives for praise and attention, so any country offering that will be in a better position, at least in the short-term. And King Charles brought a gift. I think it may have been gold-plated, so that's a plus. :ROFLMAO:

That's my indoor voice. My outdoor voice says I can't wait for this to be over!

Prime Ministers come and go but our monarchy is a fixture. Therefore, their visit wasn't political as some have called it. The king and his wife did us proud and hopefully proved that the royals are not all like Princes Harry and Andrew.
